Pikey Peak is a hidden gem in the Solu region of Nepal, known for its breathtaking views of Everest, Kanchenjunga, and several other Himalayan giants. This trek is perfect for those seeking a short, relatively easy adventure with stunning vistas. Below is a suggested 8-day itinerary for the Pikey Peak trek:

 Itinerary

  • Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and Transfer to Hotel

    Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International airport in Kathmandu, you will be met and welcomed by an officer from Excellent Himalaya Trek and Expedition. He will assist you to transfer to your hotel. You will be briefed about your trip at the hotel. Then, you can relax at your hotel or wander around Thamel, the tourist center of Kathmandu, and do some last-minute shopping. Overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu.

  • Day 02: Drive from Kathmandu to Dhap Bazaar (Altitude 2850 meters)

    Driving Distance: 240 km | Duration: 8 hours The first leg of our journey takes you by road from Kathmandu to Dhap Bazaar. The road follows the banks of the Sunkoshi River until you reach Ghurmi Village. Along the way, enjoy the constantly changing Nepali countryside with dense forests, terraced rice fields, and numerous gushing rivers. Upon arrival at Dhap Bazaar, take a leisurely walk around the markets. Overnight at Mountain Lodge.

  • Day 03: Trek from Dhap Bazaar to Japre (Altitude 2815 meters)

    Distance: 14 km | Walking Duration: 4/5 hours Begin your trek from Dhap. Near Sigane, you will catch a view of the peaks of the Numbur Himal range. The trail from Sigane follows a road under construction for the first few hours. The first village you reach is Japre (2920 meters), located above a deep valley with lovely views of Everest and Numbur Himal. There’s a small Buddhist Monastery and stupa in Japre. Overnight at Mountain Lodge.

  • Day 04: Trek from Japre to Pikey Base Camp (Altitude 3640 meters)

    Distance: 13.73 km | Walking Duration: 5/6 hours After Japre, the trail climbs up to a grassy ridge at Bhulbhule with great views of the Everest range. Shortly after Bhulbhule, the trail splits, leading right towards Pikey Peak. You’ll pass old yak houses and a long mani stone wall, before continuing on a forested trail through rhododendron trees (which bloom in spring). After leaving the forest, it takes around 2 hours to reach Pikey Peak Base Camp. Overnight at Mountain Lodge.

  • Day 05: Rest Day (Optional, if Weather is Bad)

    This is a flexible day built into the itinerary in case of bad weather. You can stay at Pikey Base Camp and wait for better conditions to safely continue the trek. Use this day to rest, acclimatize, and explore the surroundings.

  • Day 06: Trek from Pikey Base Camp to Pikey Peak (Altitude 4065 meters) to Jase Bhanjyang (Altitude 3520 meters)

    Distance: 5 km | Walking Duration: 4/5 hours Start early in the morning to hike to Pikey Peak. Enjoy breathtaking sunrise views and the panorama of Mt. Everest (8848m), Number Chuli (6959m), Thamserku (6608m), Kangtega (6685m), Khatang (6853m), Kanchenjunga (8586m), Manaslu (8163m), Dhaulagiri (8167m), Gaurishankar (7134m), Dorje Lakpa (6966m), and Langtang. After enjoying the views, descend to Jase Bhanjyang for the night’s rest. Overnight at Mountain Lodge.

  • Day 07: Trek from Jase Bhanjyang to Junbesi (Altitude 2680 meters)

    Distance: 11.02 km | Walking Duration: 5/6 hours After breakfast, follow the trail through a forest and then continue through meadows before reaching the village of Taktor. After lunch in Taktor, continue trekking towards Junbesi on a wide dirt road. Before arriving in Junbesi, you can visit a Buddhist Monastery. Junbesi is a beautiful village with a Buddhist Stupa and comfortable tea houses, home to Sherpa, Magar, and Tamang communities. Overnight at Mountain Lodge.

  • Day 08: Trek from Junbesi to Phaplu (Altitude 2380 meters)

    Distance: 13.26 km | Walking Duration: 5/6 hours After breakfast, descend along the trail following Junbesi Khola until you reach a steel suspension bridge. Cross the bridge to reach Beni Ghat, then continue along the scenic trail towards Phaplu. At Phaplu, enjoy local cuisine and partake in traditional Sherpa cultural events. Overnight at Mountain Lodge.

  • Day 09: Drive from Phaplu to Kathmandu (Altitude 1350 meters)

    Driving Distance: 280 km | Driving Duration: 9/10 hours Drive from Phaplu to Kathmandu via a regular sumo jeep. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, transfer to your hotel. In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner at an authentic Nepali restaurant featuring traditional cuisine.

  • Day 10: Transfer to International Airport for Final Departure

    Today marks the end of your Nepal adventure. Our officer will drive you to the airport approximately 3 hours before your scheduled flight, ensuring a smooth journey to your onward destination.

   ACCOMMODATION IN KATHMANDU : sharing a twin bedroom at the hotel (3 Star category) in Kathmandu on a bed & breakfast basis

   AIRPORT PICK-UP & DROP : Airport - Hotel transfer – Airport (Pick Up and Drop).

  NEPAL VISA FEES : Nepali Visa fee is US$ 60 per person for 30 days (to be applied for 60 days (USD$ 120).

  LUNCH & DINNER : Lunch & dinner during the stay in Kathmandu (also in case of early return from Trekking than the scheduled itinerary).

  EXTRA NIGHTS IN KATHMANDU : Extra nights’ accommodation in Kathmandu. In case of early arrival or late departure, early return from Trekking (due to any reason) than the scheduled itinerary.

  INSURANCE : Travel and high altitude insurance, accident, medical & emergency evacuation.

  RESCUE EVACUATION : Medical Insurance and emergency rescue evacuation cost if required. (Rescue, Repatriation, Medication, Medical Tests, and Hospitalization costs.)

  PERSONAL EXPENSES: Telephone calls, Internet, Toiletries, battery recharge, hot shower, laundry, soft drinks, beer, and any alcoholic beverages.

  PERSONAL EQUIPMENT : Clothing, Packing Items or Bags, Personal Medical Kit, Personal Trekking Gears, etc.

Our guides carry communication devices and have contacts with local agencies to ensure swift action during emergencies. In extreme cases, helicopter evacuations can be arranged, given that the trekker has suitable insurance coverage.
