 Complete Guide to Panch Pokhari Trek

The Panch Pokhari Trek is an exciting, off-the-beaten-path journey located in the Sindhupalchowk district of Nepal, which takes adventurers through beautiful rhododendron forests, traditional Tamang and Sherpa villages, and scenic terraced fields. The trek is named after the group of five holy lakes, known as Panch Pokhari, located at an altitude of 4,100 meters. This site is one of the less explored trekking destinations in Nepal, and it offers a rare cultural experience alongside breathtaking mountain views.

 Itinerary

  • DAY 1 - Drive to Bhotang Village (1800 meters)

    You will begin your journey from Kathmandu early in the morning after breakfast. The drive to Bhotang Village will take approximately 6-8 hours, depending on road conditions and traffic. Along the way, you will be treated to stunning views of green terrains, beautiful mountains, and local settlements.

    Upon arriving in Bhotang Village, take some time to explore the surroundings and get acquainted with the local culture and lifestyle. You will be staying overnight at a local guest house, where you can enjoy a traditional Nepalese dinner.

  • DAY 2 - Trek to Nasimpati

    After breakfast, start your trek towards Nasimpati. The trek will take you through lush greenery, terraced fields, and picturesque landscapes. Enjoy the natural beauty of the region as you make your way to Nasimpati.
    You will have a lunch break at a scenic spot along the way. Afterward, continue your trek, relishing the stunning views of the mountains and the peaceful ambiance of the trail.
    In the evening, you will arrive at Nasimpati, where you will spend the night in tents under the starry sky.

  • DAY 3 - Trek to Panch Pokhari Lakes (4100 meters)

    After breakfast, set out on a slightly challenging trek to Panch Pokhari. The trail will involve some elevation gain, but the reward will be the breathtaking views of the five sacred lakes at Panch Pokhari. Take your time to enjoy the serene beauty of the azure blue lakes and the majestic Himalayan range in the background. This area holds significant religious and cultural importance for the locals.
    You will spend the night camping near the lakes, surrounded by nature's tranquility.

  • DAY 4 - Trek down to Bhotang village

    In the morning, wake up to a mesmerizing sunrise over the lakes. After breakfast, begin your descent back to Bhotang Village. The trek downhill will be less demanding, allowing you to soak in the scenic beauty along the way. Take breaks as needed and enjoy the peaceful environment of the mountains.

  • DAY 5 - Drive to Kathmandu

    Start your day with a hearty breakfast before embarking on your return journey to Kathmandu. As you drive through the scenic countryside, make sure to capture the last glimpses of the tranquil landscapes that have been your home for the past few days.

   ACCOMMODATION IN KATHMANDU : sharing a twin bedroom at the hotel (3 Star category) in Kathmandu on a bed & breakfast basis

   AIRPORT PICK-UP & DROP : Airport - Hotel transfer – Airport (Pick Up and Drop).

   WELCOME DINNER : One Welcome Dinner in a tourist standard restaurant in Kathmandu with Office’s Staff.

  Permits : All necessary paper works: Trekking Permit including MCAP and special permit, TIMS Card & conservation entry fee

   STAFF INSURANCE : Insurance for all involved Nepalese staff during the trek.

   FOODS & LODGING : 3 meals a day (BLD; including tea and coffee) along with accessible accommodation sharing basis in tea house/camp during the trek.

   DRINKS : 2 liters of boiled water to carry on thermos per day per member.

   Guide : Government licensed Guide (English speaking) during the trek and sight-seeing in Kathmandu valley.

   PORTER : Porters (2 trekkers: 1 porter) during the trek.

   STAFF SALARY & ALLOWANCE : All Nepalese staff & porter’s daily wages, salary, equipment, food & clothing.

   MEDICAL KIT : Comprehensive Medical kit.

   Meals on treks only: Breakfast, Lunch , Dinner.

 What's Not Included

  NEPAL VISA FEES : Nepali Visa fee is US$ 60 per person for 30 days (to be applied for 60 days (USD$ 120).

  LUNCH & DINNER : Lunch & dinner during the stay in Kathmandu (also in case of early return from Trekking than the scheduled itinerary).

  EXTRA NIGHTS IN KATHMANDU : Extra nights’ accommodation in Kathmandu. In case of early arrival or late departure, early return from Trekking (due to any reason) than the scheduled itinerary.

  INSURANCE : Travel and high altitude insurance, accident, medical & emergency evacuation.

  RESCUE EVACUATION : Medical Insurance and emergency rescue evacuation cost if required. (Rescue, Repatriation, Medication, Medical Tests, and Hospitalization costs.)

  PERSONAL EXPENSES: Telephone calls, Internet, Toiletries, battery recharge, hot shower, laundry, soft drinks, beer, and any alcoholic beverages.

  PERSONAL EQUIPMENT : Clothing, Packing Items or Bags, Personal Medical Kit, Personal Trekking Gears, etc.

  TOILETRIES : Soaps, shampoos, toilet and tissue papers, toothpaste, and other items used to keep yourself clean.

  FILMING : Special Filming, Camera, and Drone permit fee.

  INTERNET SERVICE : Internet facility during the trek is not included.

  EXTRA PORTER : $35 USD for an extra porter per day (If an extra porter is demanded).

Our guides carry communication devices and have contacts with local agencies to ensure swift action during emergencies. In extreme cases, helicopter evacuations can be arranged, given that the trekker has suitable insurance coverage.
